MaPrimeRénov’ purple: the flat rate the cap eats into
The calculator is set to 3 people and €50,000 reference tax income outside Île-de-France: the purple band. Watch the “cut” line.
Purple households have “middle” incomes: for three people, from €39,149 to €55,196 of reference tax income outside Île-de-France, up to €71,846 in Île-de-France. In 2026 MaPrimeRénov’ grants them a flat rate of €3,000 for an air-to-water heat pump and €6,000 for ground-source. This band is the hardest hit by the cap: total grants cannot exceed 60 % of the eligible expense, and the CEE bonus with Coup de pouce, even at the standard price, already takes a large share. On a €9,000 air-to-water quote in the Rhône, the €3,000 flat rate falls to €590. The higher the quote, the higher the ceiling and the smaller the cut; but the out-of-pocket cost rises too. What matters is the out-of-pocket cost, not the advertised sum of grants.

Outside Île-de-France ceilings for 3 people: blue ≤ €30,540, yellow ≤ €39,148, purple ≤ €55,196. Estimate only: the Anah alone sets the grant, and the CEE amount is the one the firm puts in writing before you sign.

Grants and out-of-pocket cost for a purple household
| Heat pump and quote | MaPrimeRénov’ | CEE bonus | Total grants | Out of pocket |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air-to-water, €10,000 | €1,190 | €4,810 | €6,000 | €4,000 |
| Air-to-water, €15,788 | €2,390 | €4,810 | €7,200 | €8,588 |
| Ground-source, €18,000 | €5,434 | €5,366 | €10,800 | €7,200 |
| Ground-source, €24,000 | €5,434 | €5,366 | €10,800 | €13,200 |
The table shows the effect of the 60 % ceiling: whatever the quote, the household pays at least 40 % of the eligible expense, plus everything above the expense ceiling. The full formula is on the grant cap page.
The 2027 plan
The 2027 draft budget, not yet voted, plans for heat pumps to be funded solely through CEE. For a purple household whose MaPrimeRénov’ is already largely cut, the difference would be small; for a blue household it would be sharper. This is still to come and may change during the parliamentary debate.
Other levers
5.5 % VAT on the heat pump and its fitting in a home over two years old, and the zero-rate eco-loan to spread the out-of-pocket cost without interest.
