Heat pumps in Hauts-de-France: the 5 départements
The table is filtered on Hauts-de-France: change the floor area, energy or insulation, or switch to another region.
Hauts-de-France is one of the regions where a heat pump pays most, because the heating season is long. All five départements are in climate zone H1, the one with the highest CEE bonus factor, and have between 2,359 degree-days a year (Nord, Lille-Lesquin station) and 2,506 (Oise, Beauvais-Tille), according to Météo-France records from 2015 to 2024. For an averagely insulated 100 m² house in Oise, replacing a gas boiler with an air-to-water heat pump saves about €1,458 a year; if the boiler burns heating oil, the saving rises to €2,581. The other side of the climate is output: in a cold snap the heat pump must deliver more, and an undersized unit falls back on its electric heater. The coast, softened by the sea, needs less than inland. The table works out the consumption, saving and bonus for each département.
| Département | DJU | Zone | Before / yr | Heat pump / yr | Saving | CEE |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 59 Nord | 2,359 | H1 | €2,439 | €1,066 | €1,373 | €4,810 |
| 80 Somme | 2,363 | H1 | €2,443 | €1,068 | €1,375 | €4,810 |
| 02 Aisne | 2,449 | H1 | €2,532 | €1,106 | €1,425 | €4,810 |
| 62 Pas-de-Calais | 2,486 | H1 | €2,570 | €1,123 | €1,447 | €4,810 |
| 60 Oise | 2,506 | H1 | €2,591 | €1,132 | €1,458 | €4,810 |

The five départements, from mildest to coldest
| Département | Station | HDD | Zone | Heat pump electricity | Saving / yr | CEE bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nord (59) | Lille-Lesquin | 2,359 | H1 | 5,369 kWh | €1,373 | €4,810 |
| Somme (80) | Amiens-Glisy | 2,363 | H1 | 5,378 kWh | €1,375 | €4,810 |
| Aisne (02) | Aulnois-Ss-Laon | 2,449 | H1 | 5,574 kWh | €1,425 | €4,810 |
| Pas-de-Calais (62) | Arras | 2,486 | H1 | 5,658 kWh | €1,447 | €4,810 |
| Oise (60) | Beauvais-Tille | 2,506 | H1 | 5,703 kWh | €1,458 | €4,810 |
The gap between départements is small, around 6 %. It is larger within each one, between the coast and the uplands.

Output needed in a cold snap
| Département | Typical cold | Poorly insulated | Average insulation | Well insulated |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aisne | -2.1 °C | 8.4 kW | 5.8 kW | 4.0 kW |
| Nord | -1.6 °C | 8.2 kW | 5.7 kW | 3.9 kW |
| Oise | -2.4 °C | 8.6 kW | 5.9 kW | 4.0 kW |
| Pas-de-Calais | -2.1 °C | 8.4 kW | 5.8 kW | 4.0 kW |
| Somme | -2.0 °C | 8.4 kW | 5.8 kW | 3.9 kW |
These outputs are an order of magnitude to compare départements, not a sizing: the heat pump output page explains the calculation and why the installer’s heat-loss study is still needed.
